Mart van Schijndel

Mart van Schijndel ( 1943 - 1999 ), after completing his training at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy, set up his own office in 1968. Since then, he has been the name behind a considerable number of architectural and interior design projects, also designing much of the furniture and lightning for these himself. In addition to his office work, he also teached at several prominent Dutch institutes for art and architecture, and has been a professor of architecture in Düsseldorf for several years.

Delta vase

Van Schijndel's work is characterised by geometric shapes and clear simplicity. He was always keen to experiment with new materials and techniques, often finding solutions to complex problems by doing so. A particularly fine example of his work is the Delta vase, designed for an exhibition in 1981. Reactions to the prototype were so positive, that production of the vase was begun almost straight away. In 1984, the Delta vase won first prize in the American Arango Design Competition 'Galss that works'.
The vase, made of frosted glass, is available in 2 sizes.
